Peacefully, during her sleep, Patricia Margaret Jonina Johnson passed away on May 9, 2026.
Patricia (Patti) was born to June and Don Johnson in Winnipeg on November 15, 1948 and was the second child of four (Carol Dickson (Murray), Richard Johnson and Laurie Johnson (Bruce)).
Patti grew up on Ruttan Bay in Winnipeg, where she met her best friend Barb Lennox who turned into a life-long friend. She enjoyed many summers at Victoria Beach, as a child and in her youth, with her sisters, brother, and parents.
Patti graduated from Vincent Massey Collegiate in 1969, then went on to the University of Manitoba where she got her degree in education. She was a voracious reader and continued to read and learn her whole life. She would talk at length about different books or history podcasts that caught her interest.
Patti loved watching tennis, especially her favourite player, Rafa Nadal. She could chat at length about a single match even if her audience wasn’t quite sure of tennis terms or even the scoring of the sport. She also loved movies and would try to watch most of the films that were nominated for an Oscar every year. She loved to travel, and was especially fond of her visit to Greece as it combined her love of history and art.
Patti (or Auntie Pasto) would travel hours to see her nieces and nephew where they would do little projects and go exploring the countryside. Patti would make her famous peanut butter and smartie sandwiches which were always a hit. At Christmas, Patti would give some eccentric gifts - one that stands out was a pair of green socks and a whistle. She was truly one of a kind!
Patricia will be remembered for her quick wit, great laugh, and passion for literature and the English language. She will be lovingly remembered by her brother Richard, sister Laurie, and many nieces and nephews.
